Communicate is a registered charity which aims to help young people with mild social, language and communication disorders find worthwhile employment.
For many people the 'way into' a job is an interview, something we all find difficult. For some people it is a nightmare.
In Communicate we aim to help these young people in the following ways
Ul Choose the right job - it is important to have the 'dream' but it is essential to be realistic especially at the moment when jobs are very scarce.
Apply for the job - putting together a CV.
Approaching an employer and is some cases organising work placements/work experience.
Help at interviews - this is appreciated by employer and the employee.
Offering training to companies - these people are very worthwhile employees as they are very loyal, do tasks that the rest of us would find very boring and seldom make mistakes. However to achieve their maximum potential it is important that an employer and other staff are made aware of their problems - i.e. do not like sudden change, do not always laugh at the office joke. Training can be done in a lunch time.
Offer continual support to the employee and employer if needed - e. g. these people can find social situations very difficult. They want take part but may appear very shy - we can offer advice.
And
Provide contract staff for Mailshots, Data Input, Packing etc. Our rates are very competitive!
Communicate also runs a shop on the bridge and a youth club at Brock Road
